(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): Twitter witnessed data leak on Wednesday after hackers in a bitcoin scam attacked high-profile accounts. Twitter reported the security breach and placed all of its resources to remediate it. A source has revealed, according to a report, that India’s cybersecurity nodal agency CERT-In has issued a notice to Twitter asking the micro-blogging platform to provide full details of the recent global hack targeting high profile users.

The source said CERT-In has also asked Twitter for information about the number of Indian users who have visited the malicious tweets and links, and whether the platform has informed the affected users of unauthorized access to their Twitter accounts. Twitter is one of the most popular micro-blogging sites around the globe and the company will have to regain the trust of its users with such a cyber attack. Twitter was not immediately available for comment according to the same report.

Cybercriminals hacked famous figures, including former US President Barack Obama, Democratic presidential front runner Joe Biden, and other business executives including Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, into Twitter profiles.
